Wearing your new hair
I talk about all the different aspects of wearing your new hair as I experience myself, from washing it, to how it is effected by daily living doing all your normal activities, how you can style it and make it look like your real hair. I will tell you how I feel and cope with wearing my hair everyday.
I talk about calling your wig your hair and the importance of this as it makes it feel more natural and part of you - this is very important for your confidence. I also prepare you for meeting your children, grandchildren, family and friends with your new hair on as you will be more conscious of yourself. I prepare you for taking compliments about your hair from people and your response to them as your head will be full of different questions - do they know I am wearing a wig, going through chemo, have alopecia... There are so many more things we talk through all preparing you to feel confident - when you look in the mirror you need to like and love the person looking back at you then you can be confident when you meet people because you look good, you look like yourself. I will show you how to put on your hair properly step by step and let you practice that a few times and talk through any questions you may have. You will get used to putting on your hair very quickly and soon you will do it with your eyes closed as your head will feel exactly where it should go. If at any stage you want to phone me to ask a question that is no problem. |
